We are recruiting an experienced Senior Early Years Manager for a large, quality driven, 100 place setting in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Requirements of the Nursery Manager role in Newcastle upon Tyne:
- Relevant Degree OR Level 5 qualification OR other equivalent childcare qualification combined with significant experience in a senior managerial role within a nursery or early years setting.
- Significant experience of leading and managing a large team of staff within an early years setting with a proven ability to lead, develop and motivate them to deliver high standards of care and education.
- Experience of leading a setting to achieve an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted award.
- Proven track record in supporting settings in Ofsted Inspections, together with internal / external audits
- An excellent working knowledge of the Children’s Act, EYFS Welfare Requirements, and Ofsted requirements, plus a sound understanding of the EYFS curriculum and ‘in the moment planning’ and its implementation.
- A good awareness of contemporary educational thinking and issues in childcare.
- Excellent working knowledge of safeguarding and child protection issues.
- A strong understanding of the principles of financial management and control with significant experience of managing budgets.
- Excellent understanding of marketing and supporting the occupancy within the Nursery
- The ability to plan, prioritise and organise resources effectively.
- Excellent IT skills with experience of using nursery-related software packages
- The ability to explore customer needs and deliver a high quality service and customer satisfaction.
- Experience of reviewing standards and driving forward improvements combined with an ability to respond positively to and lead others through change.
- Ability to work pro-actively and flexibly with a high level of initiative and resilience.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively and develop effective working relationships internally and externally.
- Able to demonstrate multi agency working and experience of leading staff meetings and delivering training.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Joining executive board of directors and attending board meeting
- Advising the Board of Directors on the development of childcare policy and leading the development and implementation of the Nursery strategy and operational plans
- To play a lead role in the recruitment, retention and selection of staff following safer working practice guidance
- Managing budgets
- DSL
- Effective leadership, management and development of the Nursery Management Team ensuring that they are committed and motivated to deliver an excellent service in line with the Nursery aims and objectives.
- Ensure that staff within the Nursery are clear on their roles and responsibilities, that performance is managed effectively and that a positive and inclusive team environment is developed and maintained. In addition, ensure that all staff within the Nursery are appraised and developed and that appropriate arrangements are in place for regular management and team meetings.
- Actively promote and support the protection of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring that all staff and volunteers observe nursery policies and procedures to keep children safe from harm.
