Team Leader / Senior Residential Childcare Worker role in Amesbury area of Wiltshire.

If so this Team Leader / Senior Residential Childcare Worker role in Amesbury area of Wiltshire may be for you.

We are currently recruiting a Team Leader / Senior Residential Childcare Worker to work in a small mixed home in the Amesbury area of Wiltshire supporting young people aged 11- 17 years with social emotional and mental health needs.

Commutable areas include Durrington, Great Durnford, Tidworth, Salisbury.

The home is therapeutic in practice and the service is also attachment and trauma informed (ATIC), whereby the young peoples previous lived experiences are considered throughout. This informs all aspects of the service throughout the organisation to ensure that the company helps the young people to process their previous experiences, and progress when they leave residential care.

The role is a permanent full time position
 where you will typically be required to undertake 2 sleep in shifts a week - shifts start around 09:30am and finish around 10:00am the next day, as the title of the shift says you get to sleep between 11:00pm and 07:00am. Candidates must be able to commit to these shifts and be fully flexible as it will also involve working some weekend shifts.
There will also be day shifts mixed into the working pattern to be completed too.

Role involves:

Delivering the highest standards of care, protection and support to children and young people by facilitating their physical, psychological and emotional development through the application of the therapeutic model, care standards and all relevant guidance. To actively promote the company's philosophy of creating a residential care home environment that assists each child to achieve their maximum potential. The role of Team Leader will require close working with the Registered and Deputy Manager of the home as part of its management team to ensure the home attains the required high level of standards (minimum of ‘Good’ rating in Ofsted inspections) and to be a recognised centre of good practice and integrated working. As a Team Leader you will need to be able to work with the home’s managers to set clear expectations with team members to ensure the attainment of the goals set in relation to each placement within the agreed timeframe. You will support the home in attaining its legislative requirements (NMS, Ofsted, etc.) and company's standards through the application of its policies and procedures in practice.
As a Team Leader you may, at times, be required to undertake the role, or aspects of, the Deputy Manager of the service. At these times you must ensure all relevant requirements of this role, for which you will be fully trained, are maintained to the highest standards. (full job description can be provided).

Salary

£21,560 - £25,450
Sleep-in allowance: £36 per sleep-in

Candidates should:

  • have minimum 2 years recent experience supporting young people aged 11- 17 years in a residential childcare setting
  • must hold a level 3 QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People’s Workforce) or equivalent
  • ideally have supervisory experience
  • have resilience and an optimistic attitude
  • be committed to improving outcomes for young people in looked after care
  • be flexible to adapt to needs of young people
  • have good communication skills to enable them to engage effectively with young people and colleagues
