Senior Residential Childrens Support Worker (Senior RCW / Team Leader) in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

We are recruiting for a compassionate and experienced Childcare professional to work as Senior Residential Children's Support Worker (Senior RCW) for a home that supports young people aged 11 - 17 years in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

The company is a small business whom has the care of young people embedded into the whole ethos of the organisation including their recruitment process.

What you need for the Team leader / Senior RCW role:
  • Must hold a Recognised Health and Social Care qualification Level 3 Children & Young People or Children and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent for children’s units only.
  • Minimum of 2 years recent experience working within a children's residential home.
  • Full driving licence
  • Ability to write clear and accurate reports
  • Must have a full UK driving licence
  • An enhanced DBS certificate will be required upon appointment.
Main duties and Responsibilities:
  • To lead and motivate your team.
  • To prepare and operate a rota system that will ensure suitable levels of safety, security and care and oversight for the children cared for in your establishment.
  • To contribute to the Care Planning process of children cared for by the company.
  • To supervise your team in accordance with the Company’s supervision policies.
  • To be an active and positive member of the establishment’s management team.
  • To undertake delegated responsibilities allocated to you by your Registered Manager.
  • To attend and contribute to your own supervision sessions and appraisal processes.
  • To represent the Company when called upon to do so by exhibiting the highest professional standards.
  • To participate in training programmes and individual training courses.
  • Undertaking 24hrs shifts with “sleep-in” duties in accordance with the home’s rota.
  • Contributing to the creation of an environment in which children are afforded high material standards in relation to their physical needs. In so doing you will consider their individual needs taking into account their ability, gender, ethnicity, religious persuasion and cultural background.
  • Contributing to the creation and maintenance of effective communication systems within the children’s home and between the children’s home and other parts of the organisation, outside agencies and children’s families (when this is in accordance with the child’s Care plan).
  • To participate and contribute to the collation and preparation of Assessment and Action Records (when this is in accordance with the child’s Care plan).
  • To maintain all records in accordance with Company policy, regulations and statutory requirements.
  • To manage delegated budgets ensuring accurate record keeping and clear audit trail in line with Company Policy.
  • To maintain and respect the requirement for absolute confidentiality in relation to the performance of all of your duties and the information that you glean there from.
  • To undertake any other duties as required by the contingencies of the service or as instructed by your Line Manager.
  • Working shifts including 24hrs with a sleep-in
