Paediatric First Aid


Our Paediatric First Aid courses meet the new (March 2017) OFSTED / EYFS Guidelines and are suitable for childminders, nursery and school staff who may be required to undertake full statutory paediatric first aid training.

We offer the blended Learning approach (6 hrs classroom based practical and 6 hours individual learning with completion of booklet before classroom session) to both individuals and provisions.  In addition we can also organise the full two day course on request (min number 6 people).Hours of the classroom sessions are 9am til 4pm (light refreshments provided, but delegates to bring own lunch)

What you will learn?

Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider.

  • Be able to assess an emergency situation safely.
  • Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child:
  • who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
  • who has a foreign body airway obstruction
  • with external bleeding
  • with injuries to bones, joints and muscles.
  • who is unresponsive and breathing normally, including child and infant resuscitation
  • Understand how to administer emergency first aid to an infant and a child with a chronic medical condition or sudden illness: sickle cell crisis diabetic emergencies, asthma attack, allergic reaction, meningitis, febrile convulsions.

For best practice, we support the HSE recommendation to complete an annual first aid skills update.

Cost of the training using the blended learning approach is £50pp+VAT (£60incl VAT).

For settings that wish to book the full 2 day course the cost is £85pp+VAT (£102incl VAT).
